The Airedale Terrier was bred in England and is the largest of the Terrier Group giving him the nickname "King of all Terriers". Partly because they are larger than other terriers, these dogs do not have the feisty, big-dog mentality common among terriers and are instead laid-back. That being said, an Airedale Terrier will not withdraw if it feels challenged. These dogs have a smooth, wiry coat that is mostly a tan color with a black upper coat. Airedale Terriers do not shed more than 2 to 3 times a year but shed in great amounts during those times. An Airedale Terrier can make a great pet if raised in a firm way from a young age.
