Dobermans were bred in Germany during early 19th century and have earned a reputation for being fast-paced guard dogs. Since then, Dobermans have been productive as police dogs, rescue dogs, and therapy dogs. These compact dogs most commonly come in easy-to-maintain coats of black with tan markings but are also available in fawn, rusty red, and white. Dobermans are energy-packed and need extensive training from a young age to be good family pets. A Doberman can thrive with an experienced family who are willing to dedicate large amounts of time to exercising and training their Doberman.
