Pomeranians, the smallest of the German Spitz, have always been a popular breed due to their friendly demeanor and adorable looks. These lap-dogs were bred in Germany and were originally around 30 pounds heavier with the purpose of pulling sleds. Pomeranians were then downsized in the 19th century through selective breeding into the dog breed we know today. They became a royal favorite and Queen Victoria even had 35 Pomeranians in her kennel! While Pomeranians are not the one of the most trusting dog breeds, they have an extroverted personality and seldom act aggressive towards properly-introduced people.
